*Sidenote before I dive in, shoutout to the tour teams for Plush and the other bands for tending to a fan who passed out during the show. They acted swiftly and responsibly to ensure that their safety came first.
Six bands, one night of non-stop rock action spanning a wide variety of genres. The venue was the West End Trading Co in Sanford, Florida and what a great night it was. From local bands to international flair, we got a treat that I wasn’t ready for at all.
The first band up was Random Citizen, a three piece cover band that got everyone to sing along with some of their favorites. I don’t know much about them but they were pretty cool and got the crowd a little involved for the night to come.
Next up, was MULCH, an Orlando based Nu Metal band who reminded me of punk and metal days of the past. They got a little pit started and the moshing was great to see! Their drummer was outstanding and they brought a high level energy that made me bang my head a bit. Loved their energy, top notch.
Following them, was another local band Aawen, who describes their sound as “Slutty Alt”. They had a great sound, but had some technincal hiccups to start. Once they got that figured out, they sounded great, but their set was cut short as a result. So we really didn’t get to invest in them like i’d have personally liked. I will be looking for them in the future. What I’ve seen on their socials has impressed me with the style and sound they bring!
My surprise of the night BY FAR was Black Heart Society. This was right up my alley. A goth metal band based in Orlando Fl and they are everything I love about the Evanescence vibes! Their drummer literally blasted my ears away and it was great. The 5-piece group really got the crowd up from the start, but when they dropped their cover for Bring me To Life, the place erupted and it sounded simply incredible. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for them. Go check them out if you get a chance! They have music on streaming platforms.
Next up, the reason I found out about this show, Major Moment. Boston based Pop Metal band. This duo plays off each other so well and brings a lot of fun energy to them. Andrey and Sasha combined to bring something really unique and visual that mentally takes you on a trip through their melodies and presence. It’s defintely something to behold. You could really feel the connection they were establishing with the audience. Then Sasha took it a step further and interacted with the crowd on the floor, love to see that!
We end the night on a high and low note. Plush came to the stage and brought the crowd to life, including my first introduction to them by performing “Athena” but after their 4th song the night was cut short due to a fan passing out in the crowd. Plush and staff responded instantly to tend to them before paramedics arrived on the scene.
