On April 3rd, Hanabie brought their unique blend of J-pop and metal to the House of
Blues in Dallas, Texas, delivering a performance that was both high-energy and
unforgettable. Fans gathered in anticipation, eager to witness the Tokyo-based quartet’s signature style—a fusion of infectious pop melodies, crushing guitar riffs, and dynamic vocals. The venue buzzed with excitement as the band launched into their set, captivating the audience with tracks that showcased their versatility and fearless approach to genre-bending music.

The Band
Hanabie’s journey began in 2017, when four high school friends in Tokyo decided to
create a band that defied musical boundaries. Inspired by both Japanese pop and
Western metalcore, they quickly gained attention for their bold fashion sense and
energetic live performances. Their self-produced debut, “I Love Sweets,” set the tone for their playful yet intense aesthetic.
Over the years, Hanabie continued to evolve, releasing albums from 2021’s “Girls’ Reform Manifest” to their 2026 ep “HOT TOPIC,” each reflecting their growing confidence and willingness to experiment with sound. Their discography is a testament to their creativity and dedication. With tracks like “ICONIC,” “We love sweets,” and “Spicy Queen,” the band explores themes of youth, rebellion, and self-expression. Each release further cements their status as innovators within the Japanese rock scene, and their recent international tours have introduced their music to a wider audience. Hanabie’s lyrics often blend humor and heartfelt emotion, resonating with fans who appreciate both their musical daring and their
relatable storytelling.
The Show
The Dallas show was not without its surprises. At one point during the performance, two individuals dressed in red pepper costumes strolled across the stage, eliciting laughter and applause from the crowd. This whimsical moment perfectly encapsulated Hanabie’s spirit—unpredictable, fun, and always engaging. Also, at the beginning of the show after the first song, Hanabie took a solid three to four minutes to oogle over the crowd. With stars in their eyes, they looked into the audience and expressed their excitement about people wearing banana and Buccee’s attire. Many-a-yeehaw were exclaimed!
This was my introduction to harajukucore and let me tell you, I will be back for more!
Hanabie put on the most outrageously fun show I have witnessed in quite some time
and I hope they come back to the states soon.
