Elmiene debuted into the world of R&B back in 2022, and his unique and soulful sound has only made waves since then! From Oxford, the British artist uses inspiration from neo soul legends while blending timeless influences with his own modern twist. His newest album, Sounds For Someone, may be his greatest work yet, with songs touching on grief, acceptance, and love.

The press conference opened up with all of the outlets saying hello to the man himself. He was so excited and visibly filled with joy as the questions began!

Elmiene let us in and gave us a discussion filled with variety; from his favorite anime, his musical inspirations, personal struggles and growth, the album making process, and going on tour.

When asked, “What does the perfect “Reclusive” day look like for you when you need to disconnect and recharge?” (Asked by Trinity of Trinnsanity)

“It’s brutally mundane. I get up in the morning, brush my teeth, ratatatata. And then as soon as I wake up, a new delivery of One Piece cards gets delivered straight to my door. I get like a booster box or something. Open that. Figure that out and what hits I got or whatever, then I’ll spend about three hours organizing these cards color wise. Get them all in place. Then now I’ve already spent a couple hours. Get some food. Maybe if I’m really feeling a reclusive day, I might find a cookbook or crazy recipe or something, try a new recipe.

My whole thing is I only cook like a hobby. Where when I’m cooking its all I’m going to do the whole day. So after I do my card thing, I”ll be like, “I’m gonna make this! And I’ll go to like a really good Korean store or something. I’m going to get all these niche ingredients for the niche meal I’m gonna make. I’ve never made it before. I’m gonna do this, this, that.” Eat that. By this point, Its 5PM. I might start reading some manga or something. Call someone. Go to bed. There’s meals to made. Cards to Organize. There’s games to be played.”

Alt Darling asked “What do you always bring on tour that helps you feel more comfortable while you’re on the road? ”

Elmiene pondered for a moment. ”What do I always bring on tour? My best friends!” He went on to tell us how he wouldn’t be doing tours if he couldn’t bring his people with him. “If they’re not there, I wouldn’t do tour, I promise you”, he laughed, “they’re my photographer and videographer as well, so I made sure that there was even a good role, that if anyone asks ‘why the f*ck are they on tour?’, I’m like ‘because they’re doing this, you can’t tell me sh*t’!”

Elmiene stated that “the people are the tour”, explaining that the people he surrounds himself with while being on tour is one of the most important things to him.

Sounds For Someone is truly a blessing in the form of an album. My favorites off the album are Reclusive and Don’t Say Maybe, as they really resonated with me and where I am in my own life journey. Seriously, thank you for giving us these sounds, Elmiene; they are much needed in the world!

Elmiene will begin his journey on his next tour later this month, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us!
