Since 2020, the brand GirlCult has bewitched my fyp with videos from fans of the brand showing off their eye shadow palettes and black lip glosses. After attempting to bookmark the same lip mud for the twenty-something time, I gave in and bought the matte black liquid lipstick or lip mud.

First Attempt:

For this wear test, I just wanted to see what I was working with, so I applied just a top lip with liner. After five minutes, I tested how dry it was. As you can see from the third picture, that was a mistake. The lip mud transferred to my botttom lip.

Second Attempt:

For my official wear-test, I went on a lunch date with my bestie. This time I applied an ombré lip, leaving the top half of my top lip natural. After about twenty minutes and a touch test, my lips seemed dry. Or so I thought…

Sometime between the two smoke breaks, disappointing trip to a Japanese cafe, and a drive to the ramen spot, the lip mud once again transferred. Whether this is from the formula, user error, or something I ate at the cafe, I’m not sure. It was completely dry when I wiped my lips after though.

My second mistake: i forgot Ramen had oil (face palm). After just a few bites of my bowl, my lip mud disappeared and my napkin became zebra themed. This one is completely on me. The makeup was performing decently until it was met with my absent mindedness.

The makeup looks that can be created with this lip mud are gorgeous, but it’s impractical for actually daily wear. The average person doesn’t want a lipstick that will take an hour to fully dry. Doing my routine takes long enough already.
